Retooling Left tackle Levi Jones was released Wednesday by the Cincinnati Bengals, who spent their first-round draft pick on his replacement. The Bengals took tackle Andre Smith from Alabama with the sixth overall pick in the draft. The Bengals also expect to sign former Dallas Cowboys safety Roy Williams, reuniting him with former defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer. Williams, a five-time Pro Bowl player, will be in Cincinnati today.

Signed Linebacker Larry Foote inked a one-year deal with his hometown Detroit Lions, two days after being released by the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

Dismissed The lawsuit filed against Nevada by former soccer coach Terri Patraw has been dismissed, with a judge in Reno, Nev., saying the school was justified in firing her even though she reported NCAA recruiting violations.
