Bike ad on Craigslist trips pair

Associated Press

BELLINGHAM – Two Bellingham men are accused of stealing bicycles and selling them on Craigslist.

Jeremy Randall Schuitema, 22, and David Jordan McDonough, 19, were booked into Whatcom County Jail for investigation of two counts of first-degree possession of stolen property, four counts of second-degree possession of stolen property and first-degree trafficking of stolen property.

The investigation began when a woman whose mountain bike had been stolen told Bellingham police she thought she saw the bicycle for sale on Craigslist.

Police spokesman Mark Young told the Bellingham Herald an officer went to the Web site, tracked down the listing and saw the bike being offered for $1,500. He says the ad included a picture that matched the description of the woman’s bicycle.

Schuitema and McDonough were arrested Thursday.
