EWU president to reveal plan for cutting $26 million

Eastern Washington University President Rodolfo Arévalo will present his plan for cutting $26 million from the university’s budget over the next two years to the Board of Trustees on Friday.
Included in that plan will be a proposal to eliminate 110 positions, 50 of which are currently vacant. Arévalo also will call for increasing class size, consolidating colleges and increasing tuition.
The EWU Board of Trustees will hear comment on the plan Friday at 1 p.m. in Tawanka Commons, Room 215.
It will also accept written comment until June 19 by e-mail to boardoftrustees@ewu.edu or by writing EWU Trustees, 214 Showalter Hall, Cheney, WA 99004.
