‘Idol’ finalists perform for top prize

“American Idol” finalists Kris Allen and Adam Lambert will be opening up for a few music legends this week.

Lionel Richie, Carlos Santana, Cyndi Lauper, Queen Latifah, Black Eyed Peas and Keith Urban are among the artists scheduled to perform on Wednesday’s finale before either Allen or Lambert is crowned the season eight champion.

Previous “Idol” winners David Cook and Carrie Underwood will also croon on the two-night finale.

Underwood will perform on Tuesday’s episode, which will feature Lambert, a 27-year-old theater actor from San Diego, and Allen, a 23-year-old college student from Conway, Ark., duking it out for the “Idol” title and a record contract.

Lauren out, Kristin in

Lauren Conrad’s “Laguna Beach” nemesis is heading for “The Hills.”

Now that Conrad has left the hit MTV reality series, Kristin Cavallari is taking her place. The season five finale on May 31 marks Cavallari’s “Hills” debut.

The 22-year-old aspiring actress caught the bouquet at the April 25 wedding of series duo Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, an event filmed by MTV.

Cavallari became a celebrity in 2004 when MTV tracked her high school love life and rivalry with Conrad on the reality show “Laguna Beach.”

Nick goes ‘Kung Fu’

Nickelodeon has announced it will air “Kung Fu Panda: The Series.”

Based on the hit 2008 film, the 26-episode series will be animated in the same computer-generated process. It will tell new adventures of Po, the frisky martial arts panda who starred in the movie.

It’s the second co-production between DreamWorks Animation and Nickelodeon. In March, the network launched “The Penguins of Madagascar,” adapted from DreamWorks’ successful 2005 film “Madagascar.”
