Classes and workshops

Creative Gifts Classes – Gift-making ideas including ceramic tiles, bookmarks and decorative gift boxes. Cost is $3 to register (preregistration requested), $10 for supplies (payable at the class). Design and Knit a Cardigan Sweater – Five-week class for adult intermediate level knitters. Saturdays, May 30-June 27, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn, 419 N. Call for writers

Screenplay Contest – By the Northwest Independent Film and Video Entertainment Society. Screenplays must be original (15 pages or less), have a Northwest tie-in and meet industry formatting standards (see www.oscars.org/awards/nicholl/ scriptsample.pdf). Entry fee is $15 ($10 for members). Postmark deadline is May 30; send entries (three printed copies) to KNIFVES Short Film Screenwriting Contest, 2900 Government Way, P.O. Prizes include free membership in KNIFVES, written script review by the judging panel of Hollywood professionals, and a chance to “pitch” the script for possible production.
