Help wanted on Spokane County boards

Spokane County is looking for a few good men or women – or in one case, a youngster – to fill openings on a variety of boards and commissions.

The board members oversee or provide advice on a variety of issues, including parks, sewers mental health and substance abuse. Some require the applicant to live in a particular commission district or represent a key group that has a designated spot on the board.

The openings are:

•Chase Youth Commission: two positions for adults.

•Citizens Emergency Communications Systems and Facilities Advisory Committee: one position for a District 1 resident, two for District 3 residents.

•Developmental Disabilities Board: one position.

•Historic Landmarks Commission: one position for a historian.

•Housing and Community Development Advisory Committee: one position for a Millwood resident, one for a Waverly resident.

•Mental Health Advisory Board: three positions.

•Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee: one position for a District 1 resident, one for a youth from anywhere in the county.

•Solid Waste Advisory Committee: one position for a member of the business community, one for a member of a public interest group.

•Substance Abuse Advisory Board: two positions.
