Cougars unprepared

The Spokesman-Review

Cougars football … improved? Making progress? You have to be kidding!

This fan, for one, has seen more than enough of the coach Paul Wulff and staff experiment. He has also seen enough of Jim Sterk’s destruction of Cougars athletics through his hiring of unprepared coaches.

Progress is what is happening in Seattle. Progress comes from hiring coaches who have an understanding of and are ready for the Pac-10.

Progress doesn’t come when the head coach and the coaching staff are outclassed, overwhelmed and underprepared. Progress doesn’t happen when teams aren’t prepared, game plans are lacking and adjustments are nonexistent. Progress doesn’t come when the athletes are run by, run over, run through and run down – obviously, far from ready to compete in the Pac-10.

Two blowouts to mediocre Pac-10 teams and a barely top-100 WAC team are strong indicators to warrant a different direction for Cougars football, led by an athletic director who will actually bring in a coach ready to rebuild a program currently in total disarray.

No worry about “Cougin’ it” this year. Coach Wulff’s team will never be close enough to have a game slip away.

Enough is enough!
