Grizzlies trample Wildcats
To put it mildly, Chase Reynolds likes to run against Weber State.
Last year, the Montana running back racked up 185 yards against the Wildcats in a playoff game. Saturday at Missoula, Reynolds did even better, running for 241 yards and a touchdown as Montana (8-0, 5-0 Big Sky) topped Weber State (5-4, 5-2) 31-10 in a battle between the Big Sky Conference’s top teams.
“It was crazy,” Reynolds said. “The first level was so wide open. I can’t say enough about our offensive line. We just get better every week.”
The Grizzlies rang up 506 yards of total offense and picked off four Cameron Higgins passes, including one that was returned 57 yards for a TD by defensive end Jace Palmer.
“We liked our plan going in,” Montana coach Bobby Hauck said. “We thought we had some formations we hadn’t shown that we could take advantage of.”
Montana State 41, Idaho State 10: Aaron Mason ran for 108 yards and two TDs to lead the Bobcats (5-3, 3-2) past the Bengals (0-9, 0-6) at Bozeman.
Sacramento State 27, Northern Arizona 24: Jason Smith threw for 210 yards and scored the go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter as the Hornets (3-5, 3-3) defeated the Lumberjacks (5-3, 4-2) at Sacramento, Calif.
Northern Colorado 21, South Dakota 17: Bryan Waggener threw for 281 yards and two TDs as the Bears (3-6) beat the Coyotes (3-5) at Greeley, Colo.
