Golfweek picks Palouse Ridge as No. 2 best new course in U.S.
PULLMAN - Palouse Ridge Golf Club at WSU has been ranked the #2 best new course in America by Golfweek magazine.
As one of the most popular lists of the magazine’s rankings, the 2009 New Courses list features the nation’s top 50 new layouts.
The top three on the list all hail from the western United States: Rock Creek Cattle Company (Deer Lodge, Mont.) takes the top spot, while Palouse Ridge Golf Club and Rainmakers Golf Club (Ruidoso, N.M.) rank No. 2 and No. 3.
Carved into a broad expanse of rolling hills, Palouse Ridge Golf Club’s 7,308-yard layout takes players on a journey through the undulating dunes of the Palouse.
To produce the Golfweek list, a nationwide team of more than 475 evaluators rated the layouts on the basis of 10 criteria, including routing, conditioning, variety and memorability of holes. The result is an average of scores, which then dictates a course’s overall ranking.
