Eagles roll up yards in victory

CEDAR CITY, UTAH - Matt Nichols threw for 380 yards and four touchdowns as Eastern Washington rolled up 608 yards in offense to put away the Southern Utah for a 41-28 non-conference football victory on Saturday. Nichols, who had a 52-yard touchdown run on a draw play, accounted for 455 yards of total offense to become the Big Sky Conference’s all-time leader (12,440 yards). Nathan Overbay caught three touchdown passes for Eastern Washington (7-3), which is ranked 18th in the Football Championship Subdivision poll and kept hopes alive for at-large berth in the FCS playoffs. Cade Cooper was 35 for 47 with no interceptions for 345 yards passing for Southern Utah (4-6). Tysson Poots caught 15 passes for 147 yards and three touchdowns, and Fesi Setaki had 12 receptions for 143 yards.
