Cougars batter Braves

Jazmine Perkins led all scorers with a season-high 20 points, freshman KiKi Moore scored 16 to go with nine rebounds, six steals and five assists and the Washington State women’s basketball team beat Bradley 80-66 at the Lady Rebel Round-up in Las Vegas.

The Cougars (2-2) jumped out to a 12-point lead by halftime, shooting 45.2 percent while holding the Braves (1-3) to 24 points on 8-of-25 shooting. The Braves were led by 14 points from both Olivia Allen and Brooke Bisping but struggled to protect the ball, commiting 30 turnovers.

•Liz Horiatis scored 18 points and added seven rebounds as Whitworth (2-1) handed Colorado College (2-1) its first loss of the season, winning 76-73 in overtime at the Tigers’ Thanksgiving Classic in Colorado Springs, Colo. After trailing 68-66 with two minutes gone in overtime, the Pirates went on an 8-0 run to grab a six-point lead with 26 seconds left to seal the victory.

•Lamar University (5-1) shot 47.2 percent from the field, including 10 of 19 from 3-point range, to upend Idaho (1-3) 68-56 at the World Vision Classic in Waco, Texas.

The Vandals shot just 36.1 percent against the Lady Cards, and were led by 15 points and seven rebounds from Shaena Kuehu.

•Amanda Carlton scored 13 points, Kama Griffitts added 12 and North Idaho (5-1) forced 20 turnovers to beat Williston State College 74-57 at the NIC Thanksgiving Classic in Coeur d’Alene.

WSC’s Christine Miller scored a game-high 15, but the Cardinals countered with three players in double figures and 40 rebounds.

Volleyball

Kenzie Shreeve had 28 kills and Northern Colorado (21-11) won the Big Sky Conference tournament title with a 25-17, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19 upset win over top-seeded Portland State (21-8) at Cheney.

Boys basketball

Mark Smyly led Lake City (1-0) with 23 points in a non-league victory over Wenatchee at Coeur d’Alene. The Timberwolves eventually built the lead to 14 with Chris Wheelock adding 10 points and Brady Smith snagging seven rebounds to go with his five points. LC held Wenatchee to 22 first-half points.

•Max Selesky and Eric Holbrook combined for five first-quarter 3-pointers to lift Priest River (1-0) to a 68-50 win over Lakeland (0-2) in Rathdrum. Selesky finished with 24 points, including 18 from 3-point range.

Girls basketball

Gina Mitchell’s 18 points led four Lake City (3-1, 1-1 IEL) players in double figures in a 71-51 route over Wenatchee in Coeur d’Alene. Employing a full- court press against Wenatchee in the second quarter, the Timberwolves built an eight-point lead by halftime and pulled away in the second half.

LC forced 24 turnovers in the game, and Sydney Butler and Alyssa Kacalek each scored 16 points. Jasmine Smith added 10.
