EWU at Idaho State

KICKOFF: 2:05 p.m. at Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho

Records: EWU 3-1 overall, 2-0 Big Sky; ISU 0-4, 0-1

Radio: 1510-AM

Overview: Winless Idaho State comes in still smarting from last Saturday’s 33-22 home loss to NCAA Division II Central Washington and is in desperate need of establishing at least a semblance of a running game. The Bengals, while facing the most difficult early-season schedule of any team in the league, are averaging a paltry 21.2 rushing yards per game. Establishing a running game against the 17th-ranked Eagles might be a tough task against Eastern’s young, but quickly improving, defensive front and veteran linebacking corps, headed by junior J.C. Sherritt, the league’s leading tackler. The Eagles, who boast the Big Sky’s top rushing offense (150.8 yards per game), are big favorites to make their first 3-0 league start since 2004, when they finished 6-1 in the conference.
