Spokane Valley Meals on Wheels – Volunteers are needed to deliver hot meals to elderly and disabled people in Spokane Valley. Volunteers may choose to drive a route any day, Monday through Friday, or drive as a substitute on flexible days. Meals will be picked up at 11 a.m. and delivered to approximately 15 people and delivery time is approximately 90 minutes. Spokane Valley Partners – Volunteers for an administrative assistant to the program director to maintain the volunteer database; six-month commitment, up to 10 hours per week; assist in the recruitment and hourly tracking of volunteers involved in seasonal programs, food bank and clothing bank. Page Ahead – The Page Ahead Children’s Literacy Program is looking for volunteers to be story time readers to read to children in preschool and kindergarten classrooms during the 2009-2010 school year. Training is provided and schools are located throughout the Spokane area. Volunteers can choose a weekly, bimonthly, or monthly schedule and must commit for a full school calendar year. American Cancer Society Discovery Shop – Volunteers are needed for the Discovery Shop, located at 905 W. Garland Ave., for help with a number of duties. For more information, call Judy at (509) 328-9373.

Anna Ogden Hall Long Term Recovery Shelter – Volunteer opportunities include: nursery and kitchen volunteers; various program class teachers; reception work; and help in the medical clinic. Catholic Charities – Drivers are needed to deliver “brown bags” to those in need of meals who are unable to obtain food themselves. Volunteers must pass a Washington State Patrol background check, have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle to use for food deliveries and be able lift and carry bags weighing 8 to 10 pounds.
