Stars go Poppins crazy
Even stars get star-struck.
It happened Monday to Zoe Saldana, Katie Holmes and Renee Zellweger at Elle magazine’s Women in Hollywood tribute, where they were honored alongside legendary actress Julie Andrews.
Saldana burst into song — “A Spoonful of Sugar” — at the thought of meeting the “Mary Poppins” star. Zellweger said she’d “certainly be star-struck” when she met the actress.
“She is amazing,” Holmes said. “We have ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘Sound Of Music’ playing a lot in our house right now.”
A ‘Good Hair’ day
A federal judge has refused to halt the release of the Chris Rock film “Good Hair.”
Rock and the film’s producers were sued in Los Angeles by documentary filmmaker Regina Kimbell, who claimed the comedian stole several ideas for his film from her earlier film, “My Nappy Roots.” U.S. District Judge Dale S. Fischer watched both films and says she didn’t see substantial similarities.
Big trouble for Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne is appearing in a Manhattan courtroom, but DNA science is taking center stage.
A hearing on a DNA profiling technique used in the rapper’s 2007 gun-possession case started Wednesday. It concerns a process used for identifying people from tiny amounts of DNA — including some that prosecutors say ties the Grammy Award winner to a gun found on his tour bus after a concert.
The 27-year-old has pleaded not guilty. He faces at least 3½ years in prison, if convicted.
