Local Golf News: Bob Scott; Brenda Howe

MeadowWood Golf Course professional Bob Scott shot a second-round even-par 72 on Wednesday to finish at 2-under 142 en route to a first-place finish at the Inland Empire Chapter PGA’s Farwest E-Z Go tournament at Circling Raven Golf Club in Worley, Idaho. Scott finished one stroke better than runners-up Luke Baker of Deer Park GC and Adam Syverson of Indian Canyon GC. Darin Vaughan of Twin Lakes Village GC, first-round leader Timothy Morton of Prairie Falls GC and Colin Floyd of Manito G&CC finished in a three-way tie for fourth place at 146. Floyd and Syverson tied for low round of the second day with 71. •Former Eastern Washington golfer Brenda Howe (Hall) has been named the Eagles’ head women’s golf coach. Howe earned All-Big Sky Conference honors in 1995 and 1996 and made the Big Sky All-Academic team in 1997 and 1998. Howe was an assistant at Washington State University from 1999-2001. Eastern will co-host the Bulldog/Eagle Challenge with Gonzaga on Monday and Tuesday at Hangman Valley GC. In her final season, Howe played for coach Marc Hughes, who was recently named associate director of athletics for development and director of golf. “Marc has done a tremendous job for the program the past 11 years,” Howe said in a press release. “I am honored to take over the reins at my alma mater and I look forward to taking the program to new heights.”
