A small bite from Meyer

From Wire Reports

Attention “Twilight” fans: Stephenie Meyer has a new book coming out.

Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will release “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” on June 5.

The novella is told from the viewpoint of Bree, a newborn vampire featured in “Eclipse,” one of the books in Meyer’s best-selling teen-vampire saga.

Meyer said the novella had originally been planned for “The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide” but became too long to fit into the guide.

One dollar for each book sold from the 1.5 million-copy U.S. first printing will be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund.

Way they wish they were

Barbra Streisand will appear at the opening-night keynote reception for BookExpo America in May to promote her upcoming book, “My Passion for Design.”

Due Nov. 16, the book reveals the taste and style that have inspired the singer’s homes and collections.

Event director Steven Rosato said Streisand’s appearance “calls attention to the strength, vitality and excitement that is so much part of the book industry.”

The ‘thug’ part is accurate

Finally, Flesh-N-Bone (aka Stanley Howse), a rapper from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, was arrested this week during an Ohio concert on 12-year-old charges that he roughed up his mother.

He’s accused of striking her with a gun in 1998, leaving a 1-inch gash on her head.
