Clot claims GU student after knee surgery

Friends and family expressed shock at the sudden death of Gonzaga University student Lacey Jo Rosenbaum, who died Tuesday night at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane from a blood clot following knee surgery.

Rosenbaum had surgery March 9 after getting hurt playing volleyball, her mother told the Tri-City Herald newspaper.

Lacey Jo’s father, Keith Rosenbaum, was in Spokane with her when she died. Her parents had been taking turns helping Lacey get to classes while she recovered.

“Her last words were, ‘I’m fine. I’m fine,’ ” said her mother, Lynda Rosenbaum.

Lacey Jo Rosenbaum was to have graduated from Gonzaga on May 9.
