Earth Seeds spreading through the Northwest
Organization to be part of Earth Day Spokane festivities
Just in time for spring sowing, Earthseeds, a non-profit organization from Colorado Springs, Colo., has spread to the Northwest, and will be sharing a message at Spokane’s Earth Day Saturday of how to make our planet more sustainable.
EarthSeeds, the educational and outreach arm of The Global View Foundation, has become a world-wide network of 4,000 citizen-activists over the past 10 years, from all walks of life, working towards a sustainable earth through community outreach and school curriculum.
EarthSeeds will be one of more than 40 organizations and businesses at Earth Day Spokane, a daylong festival Saturday on Main Street in front of the Saranac and Community buildings.
Started in 1990 by author and environmental champion Mark Joyous, EarthSeeds focuses on teaching communities, specifically kids, about sustainability, largely through an astronaut’s view of Earth.
Compiled from over 3,000 NASA photos to create a truly authentic view of Earth as seen from space, the Parents Choice Award-winning Earth Ball gives everyone the same 3-dimensional, political boundary-free view that has profoundly impacted astronauts and others to share their view about where we live and our important role in taking care of our planet.
Teachers interested in the program can obtain a 150-page curriculum created by Presidential Award for Teaching winner Delene Hoffner, in addition to the Earth Ball, plus a large collection of other world-class resources.
Coming soon to Spokane will be the EarthSeeds SusBus (Sustainability Bus)—a mobile venue for spreading the word all types of public events including football games, interstate fairs, and community events with fun, interactive exhibits for all ages.
