‘True Tales of Cougar Bob’ shares mountain exploits
A new book from Spokane’s Gray Dog Press chronicles the life of “Cougar Bob,” aka Robert L. Campbell, a near-legendary North Idaho hunter and trapper.
For about 33 years, beginning in the 1963, he was the go-to guy when officials needed someone to trap or kill problem cougars in North Idaho.
The book, by his wife, B.J. Campbell, is titled “Close Calls: The True Tales of Cougar Bob.”
It’s a collection of nonfiction stories about Campbell’s exploits in the North Idaho mountains. The author says the stories are all true, written in the style of “creative nonfiction.”
Many of the book’s 26 stories feature a “narrow escape.”
The author will sign books at Auntie’s Bookstore, 402 W. Main Ave., on Aug. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. and at Hastings, 2512 E. 29th Ave., on Sept. 4 from 1 to 4 p.m.
