BLM purchases land inside monument
MEDFORD, Ore. – The Bureau of Land Management has purchased roughly 300 acres inside the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument.
John Gerritsma, the agency’s Ashland Resource Area manager, said the acquisition will help preserve important areas for wildlife.
BLM bought the land from the Pacific Forest Trust.
The agency paid $451,500 for the acreage, using money from the federal Land Water Conservation Fund. Moneys for the fund are derived from offshore oil and gas lease receipts.
