Deer Park halts surging Cheney
Jared Pyeatt tallied 17 points with nine boards and Deer Park halted the surging Cheney Blackhawks (10-6, 6-4) 57-52 to retake second place in the Great Northern League Friday in DP.
Since losing to the Stags (11-5, 7-3) five games ago, Cheney had answered with four straight wins before falling for the second time to the Stags, despite 26 points and eight rebounds from DeAngelo Jones.
Jones kept Cheney in the game throughout the contest, but could never pull even as the Stags led the entire way.
Clarkston 61, Medical Lake 38: Dustin McConnell completed a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists and added six steals as the Bantams (12-3, 8-1) jumped out to a 57-31 lead after three quarters over the Cardinals (2-14, 1-9) in Medical Lake.
West Valley 55, Riverside 43: Brady Bagby finished with 23 points, including shooting 12 of 14 from the free-throw line, to boost the Eagles (9-7, 6-4) over the Rams (6-9, 3-6) in Riverside. The win moved the Eagles one-half game behind Pullman for fourth place and an opportunity to host a district playoff game.
Panorama 2B tourney
St. George’s 54, Republic 38: Gerhard Muelheims scored seven of his 12 points in the first quarter to jumpstart the Dragons (16-5) in their win over the Tigers (11-9) at St. George’s. The Dragons jumped out to a 16-4 lead in that opening frame and then put the game away with a 19-4 edge in the third to advance to the championship game of the tournament against Selkirk at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Kettle Falls.
Selkirk 47, Springdale 46: Hunter Enyeart had 16 points and 13 rebounds and scored the winning bucket for the host Rangers (13-8) with 1:16 remaining in Ione. The Chargers (11-10) had two opportunities to retake the lead with time winding down, but neither fell, pushing the Rangers to the championship game against St. George’s.
Northeast A
Lakeside 73, Kettle Falls 34: The host Eagles (8-12, 4-4) locked down the No. 3 seed in the District 7 1A tournament with an emphatic win over the Bulldogs (2-17, 0-8), finishing the first half with an 18-point lead and closing the game on a 23-6 run in Nine Mile Falls. Ryan Gunderson played just 13 minutes for the Eagles, but scored 25 points with 14 rebounds and Bo Smokoska added 24 points with 15 boards.
Bi-County 1B
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 61, Odessa 34: Derek Isaak had 23 points, Chad Carlquist added 15 and the Warriors (13-7, 5-1) held the host Tigers (8-12, 2-4) to 19 points through three quarters to clinch the top spot out of the Bi-County 1B league. ACH will play the loser of today’s Inchelium vs. Northport in the first round of the District 7 tournament, while Odessa will play the loser of Wellpinit vs. Cusick.
Bi-County 2B
Liberty 62, Valley Christian 29: Dylan Salsbury had 15 points and four Lancers (6-14, 2-10) finished with double-digit points to beat the Panthers (2-18, 0-12) in their regular-season finale at Valley Christian. The win gave them the final berth in the Bi-County 2B tournament, with their first game at Lind-Ritzville.
Northwest Christian 58, Lind-Ritzville 53: Kwinn Hanson had 27 points and Reuben Clark buried a pair of free throws with 4 seconds left to push the league-champion Crusaders (17-3, 11-1) past the host Broncos (15-5, 8-4).
Colfax 58, Reardan 30: Tanner Gay had 24 points and hit four 3-pointers in the second half to lead the Bulldogs (14-6, 9-3) to a 27-9 edge after the break and a second-place finish in the league. The Indians (10-10, 5-7) finished fifth and will travel to Davenport for their first playoff game.
District 9 North
Rosalia 59, St. John-Endicott 48: Jim Maley paced the Spartans (19-0, 9-0) with 23 points and 16 rebounds, Nathan Richards also finished with a double-double, tallying 16 points and 12 boards, and the visiting Eagles (9-10, 3-6) fell off after halftime, losing the third quarter 20-12 which was the major difference.
Colton 59, LaCrosse-Washtucna 46: Josh Straughan scored 15 points and the third quarter was the turning point for the Wildcats (8-11, 4-6), who outscored the host Tigercats (7-13, 2-8) 22-7.
Tekoa-Oakesdale 54, Garfield-Palouse 47: Brandon Hovde had 22 points and nine rebounds and the Nighthawks (4-14, 2-3) upended the first-place Vikings (12-5, 4-2), outscoring them 25-20 in the second half to earn the road victory.
Caribou Trail
Lake Roosevelt 67, Cashmere 55: Cade Egbert scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half to lead the Raiders (12-6, 9-3) back from a six-point halftime deficit at Coulee Dam. The Raiders outscored the Bulldogs (10-8, 5-7) 40-22 after halftime.

Davenport 68, Sprague-Harrington 38: Jarod Gunning had 13 points to lead the Gorillas (15-5) who received contributions from all 12 players on the roster in their win over the host Falcons (2-18).
