‘Oklahoma’ onstage at LCHS
Lake City High School students will perform Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic musical “Oklahoma!” March 4 through March 6 and March 11 through March 13 at 7 p.m. in the LCHS Auditorium. A matinee will also be performed on March 13 at 2 p.m.
The performance will include favorite tunes such as, “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning,” “People Will Say We’re in Love,” and, of course, “Oklahoma!”
The LCHS cast features Taylor Rodgers as Curley McLain; Leah Meyerholtz as Laurey Williams; Jeff Williams as Ali Hakim; Patric Schwaab as Jud Fry; Dylan Townsend as Will Parker; Natalie Mitchell as Aunt Eller; and Stefanie Wolf as Ado Annie Carnes.
Tickets are $8 general admission and $7 for students, children and seniors. Tickets are $6 with a LCHS ASB card.
Tickets may be purchased in the main office at LCHS, 6101 Ramsey Road; Figpickel’s Toy Emporium, 312 E. Sherman Ave.; or Hands-to-Art, 3115 N. Government Way.
Area students to compete at Regional Spelling Bee
Students in fourth through eighth grade from Idaho schools in five northern counties will show their spelling smarts in the seventh annual North Idaho Regional Spelling Bee on March 20 at North Idaho College, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center.
Students qualified by winning their grade level in public school districts, home schools and private school districts throughout North Idaho. Fifty-four students will be headed to the competition, from 60 schools in 13 districts.
All students will compete against each other, regardless of grade level.
Qualifiers include: fourth-graders: Anthony Kirby, of Winton Elementary School in the Coeur d’Alene School District; Makenzie Laupp, of Garwood Elementary, Lakeland School District; Hannah Davidson, of Kootenai Elementary, Lake Pend Oreille School District; Matteo Robledo, of Harrison Elementary, Kootenai School District; Shelby Taylor, of Heyburn Elementary, St. Maries School District; Taylor Carlson, of Canyon Science Magnet School, Kellogg School District; Laura Kirkland, Idaho Virtual Academy, Moscow; Mitchell Mason, House of the Lord Christian Academy; Rebekah Pinkerton, home school, Coeur d’Alene; Brittaney Millward, of Priest Lake Elementary, West Bonner County School District; Olivia Ward, of Prairie View Elementary, Post Falls School District; Mariah Roy, of Mount Hall Elementary, Boundary County School District; and Summer Beebe, of Lakeside Elementary, Plummer-Worley School District.

The winner of the Regional Spelling Bee will receive an all expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in June.
