Eagles fall shy in OT

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Gabe Rogers hit a 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds left in overtime to lift Northern Arizona to a 74-71 win over Eastern Washington (8-20, 4-10) on Saturday night.

It was the Lumberjacks’ school-record third straight overtime game.

Northern Arizona trailed 69-67 when Rogers hit a 3 with 1:07 left to give the Lumberjacks a one-point lead.

The Lumberjacks’ DeAngelo Jones hit 1 of 2 free throws with 21 seconds left, but the Eagles’ Glen Dean hit a shot with 10 seconds left to tie it, setting up Rogers’ winner.

Cameron Jones led the Lumberjacks with 23 points.

Dean and Brandon Moore each had 13 for EWU. Moore added 12 rebounds in the loss.

The Eagles’ Benny Valentine forced the overtime when his layup with 12.3 seconds to play made the score 64-all.
