Indians roll past Wildcats

Ben Carter set the pace for North Central (5-1) scoring a 15-5 major decision over Taylor Whetzel at 171 pounds and the Indians dominated Mt. Spokane (4-2) 50-15 Tuesday at NC.

Carter, a state runner-up a year ago, held a 4-0 lead after two rounds, but scored 11 points in the final round.

The Indians won five of their first six matches and then the last five to pull away.

Great Northern

Deer Park 78, Colville 0: The Stags (3-0) ran away with a win over the Indians (0-3) at Deer Park – recording seven pins and three forfeits for 60 of their 78 points – led by Shawn Swiger, who wrestled up a class at 140 and earned a 15-2 major decision.

Riverside 42, Medical Lake 25: After trailing 15-12 early in the dual, the visiting Rams (3-0) won five of the next six matches and seven of the last nine to earn the win over the Cardinals (1-2).

Clarkston 42, West Valley 27: The Bantams (2-1) recorded six pins to upend the Eagles (1-1) at West Valley. Reigning state champion Quinn Gannon won with a 16-0 technical fall at 130 to lead the Eagles. But it came too late as the Bantams had previously won five of six matches to pull ahead for good.
