Gonzaga blows Fitz tribute

The Spokesman-Review

As a longtime member of the Gonzaga community (graduate, athlete and volunteer) I was appalled and astonished by the trite tribute Gonzaga paid to Dan Fitzgerald at the Pepperdine basketball game Thursday night.

It is also interesting that the video “Decade of Excellence” had no mention of Coach Fitz. There would be nothing to celebrate over the last 10 years without his contributions, leadership and hirings of (Mark) Few, (Dan) Monson and (Bill) Grier.

For a university with a long tradition of humanistic, Catholic and Jesuit philosophy, the acting president and athletic department blew the layup at the end.
