Stage 16 recap

Stage: Took the riders on a 124-mile ride from Bagneres-de-Luchon to Pau that featured four major climbs, including the Col du Tourmalet.

Winner: Pierrick Fedrigo of France made it three French victories in a row after winning a sprint among seven riders in a breakaway, including Lance Armstrong. Second was Sandy Casar of France, with Ruben Plaza of Spain third.

Yellow Jersey: No change in the overall classification. Defending champion Alberto Contador of Spain leads Andy Schleck of Luxembourg by 8 seconds.

Next stage: Today is a rest day. Thursday is the final day in the Pyrenees, and it ends at the top of one of the most famous mountains in cycling. The 108.1-mile 17th stage from Pau to the Col du Tourmalet (ridden in the opposite direction to Tuesday) has the potential to decide the Tour.
