Service today for Kellie Kittilstved

MEMORIAL: A memorial service for former Rogers High School track standout Kellie Kittilstved will be held today at noon at Spokane Christian Center, 8909 E. Bigelow Gulch Road.

Kittilstved, 41, died last week after battling a brain tumor for six years.

Running in high school as Kellie Gamby, she and three teammates – Tina Braman, Keryn Shines and Trish Matlock – won Rogers’ first state girls track title in 1986 with a one-point victory over Garfield of Seattle. Gamby scored 22 of the Pirates’ 42 points – winning the 200 meters, running legs on two runner-up relay teams and clinching the championship with a second-place finish in the meet’s final event, the 400.

She accepted a track scholarship at the University of Washington and ran for four years, and still ranks in the school’s Top 10 indoors at 400 meters.

She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Dale Kittilstved, daughters Kelsie and Jessica, parents Bob and Diane Gamby and brothers Mike and Bob.
