New faces

Cassidy Lange has been hired by Design Source Inc. as a designer. She holds a bachelor’s degree in interior design from Washington State University.

Gus Johnson Ford of Spokane has hired Laura Christianson as business development and marketing coordinator. She is a graduate of Washington State University.

Paul Oleniacz has been hired by St. Joseph Family Center as director of development and communications. He previously worked as director of development and communications for the Inland Northwest Blood Center and as development director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Northwest.

Lyle Pearson Premier Motor Cars of Spokane has hired Mark Chiesa as a sales and finance manager. He has 22 years of luxury automobile sales experience. The company has also hired Jerry Lobbdell as a sales consultant. Both Chiesa and Lobbdell previously worked for Mercedes-Benz of Spokane.

Promotion

Linda Elkin has been promoted to region president for U.S. Bank in Spokane. She previously served as vice president and commercial banking team leader and has been with the company since 1996.

Kudos

The Regence Foundation presented Dr. James Shaw with a Sojourns Award for his leadership in advancing palliative care throughout the Spokane community. Dr. Shaw is medical director at Providence Center for Faith and Healing and is also director of ethics at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital.

The Association of Washington Business awarded the following businesses with 2010 AWB Community Service Awards: Associated Industries, PAML, Sterling Savings Bank, all of Spokane; and Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Inc., of Pullman.

Dr. Ted Yoshio Toribara and attorney Kyle Nolte received “My Boss is a Patriot” awards from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve organization. The organization also presented Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich with “Patriot” and “Above and Beyond” awards.

401kWire.com named Chris Codd among the “Most Influential Defined Contribution Advisors in 2009.” Codd is a senior associate with Mercer DC Advisors in Spokane.

Suzanne Beck has received north central Washington’s Nurse of the Year award in the Advancing and Leading the Profession category. Beck is a registered nurse with Northwest MedStar.

The Spokane Board of Realtors has named Diane Bobiak Media Person of Year. Bobiak works as the classified advertising manager for The Spokesman-Review.

Gifts

Domino’s Pizza donated $7,000 to Second Harvest Inland Northwest toward supplying food to local people in need. The money was raised by Spokane and Coeur d’Alene Domino’s Pizza locations in April.

NATIVE Project in Spokane received a $20,000 grant from the Regence Foundation toward the expansion of Native American holistic wellness programs in Spokane County.

Appointed

Whitworth University has appointed Bob Beatty dean of the School of Global Commerce and Management. Beatty has more than 15 years of higher education instructional experience and previously served as an associate professor of information systems for Northern Illinois University’s College of Business.

Elected

Shane Miller has been elected to Tilt-Up Concrete Association’s board of directors for a three-year term. Miller is vice president of DIVCON Inc. in Spokane Valley.
