Bantams teams make state
Dustin McConnell tossed in a game-high 19 points and Trey Sobotta scored 11, including four free throws in overtime, to spark the Clarkston Bantams (16-6) to a 64-62 victory over the Pullman Greyhounds (11-12) in a winner-to-state, loser-out District 7 2A boys basketball game at Central Valley High School on Saturday.
Austin Drake led Pullman with 12 points.
The Greyhounds outscored Clarkston 21-15 in the fourth quarter.
Clarkston heads to state as District 7’s No. 3 seed.
Girls
Kellie McCann-Smith totaled 38 points – hitting 15 of 21 shots from the floor, including 4 of 8 3-pointers and all four of her free throws, to power the Clarkston Bantams (11-12) to a 69-46 win over the Cheney Blackhawks (10-13) in a winner-to-state, loser-out girls game at CV.
Allie Brown scored 16 for the Blackhawks, who were outscored 22-7 in the fourth quarter.
The Bantams head to state as the No. 3 seed.
