Agreed The Miami Dolphins and QB Chad Pennington have agreed to terms on a one-year contract, and the deal is expected to be signed by Monday, a person familiar with the discussions said Saturday. The Dolphins also announced the signing of linebacker Karlos Dansby, who agreed to a $43 million, five-year contract Friday, the first day of free agency.
Signed The Atlanta Falcons have signed free-agent cornerback Dunta Robinson, the Houston Texans’ career interceptions leader, to a six-year, $57 million contract. The native of Athens, Ga., had 13 interceptions in the last six seasons with Houston. •The Detroit Lions announced the signings of free-agent wide receiver Nate Burleson.
Traded The New York Jets traded safety Kerry Rhodes to the Arizona Cardinals for a fourth-round pick in this year’s draft and a seventh-rounder in 2011. Rhodes has four years left on his contract and was due $2 million roster bonus next week.
Suspended Reeling Virginia suspended basketball scoring leader Sylven Landesberg for the rest of the season for failing to meet his academic obligations. Landesberg leads the Cavaliers with averages of 17.3 points and 2.9 assists this season.
Released The Oakland Raiders have released running back Justin Fargas after seven seasons with the team. The team announced the move, saying Fargas had failed a physical. Fargas was owed a $1.7 million bonus if he was still on the roster on Monday.
Pleaded Oregon kicker Rob Beard pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of physical harassment in a Jan. 24 street fight that left him seriously injured. The Eugene Register-Guard reported that prosecutors said Beard was so drunk that he doesn’t remember shoving a woman to the ground before he was beaten unconscious by two men who intervened on the woman’s behalf. The two other men pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault.
