COPS fundraisers coming up

Pizza night, yard sale, bike registry planned

Nevada-Lidgerwood COPS have a couple of fundraisers coming up next week.

First off is a pizza night at Shakey’s Pizza on May 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. The restaurant will donate 15 percent of its total sales that night to the COPS station.

Then, on May 22, there will be a yard sale at the COPS station at the corner of Wellesley Avenue and North Addison Street. The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and donations of things to sell are welcome. There also will be an area where neighbors can set up their own sale.

McGruff the crime-fighting dog will be there, and so will Operation Family ID, which offers digital photos and fingerprints of children to help identify a missing child.

Lastly, there will be a bicycle registration program where bikers can register their bike’s serial number with the COPS station in exchange for a new bike helmet. The registration numbers may help identify the legal owner of a stolen bike.

For more information about any of the programs or fundraisers, call (509) 625-3533 on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
