Buses take pass on ash
My late husband, Bert Kile, was working for The Spokesman-Review at the time of the eruption of Mount St. Helens.
The day after the eruption he got ready for work as usual. He always took the bus and I told him I didn’t think they would be running.
He left anyway, and came back from the bus stop a half-hour later, covered in ash.
He decided to wait for further instructions from our city leaders.
