Priano’s new location offers more space for big toys

The building that originally was Rosauers in the block bordered by Appleway, Highway 95 and Haycraft Avenue will have a major new tenant this summer. Priano’s Billiards & Backyards will move from 7168 Government Way to the 7,000-square-foot space between Fred’s Appliance and Mountain Comfort Furnishings.

With the inventory changing with lifestyles, Priano’s offers lead and neon wall art, portable and custom spas and spa chemicals, repair work and accessories. They also carry gameroom supplies including Brunswick pool tables and accessories, foosball, poker tables, air hockey and darts.

Phil and Eleanor Priano moved from Kellogg to Coeur d’Alene and bought the company in 1956. Son Dave and his wife, Connie, joined in 1971, and now their son Josh and wife Melissa are with the business. It was at 116 Lakeside Ave. for 44 years and has been on Government Way for 10 years. The new location offers a more central location, more space and more visibility.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Phone (208) 762-9712. Check www.prianosbilliards andbackyards.com.

Slick Rock Tanning and Spa opens

Affordable luxury with a contemporary touch is the objective at Slick Rock Tanning & Spa. The business opened in April south of Sonic Burger off Highway 41 in Post Falls.

Slick Rock strives to be a comfortable place for both men and women, offering ultraviolet and spray tanning, skin hydration, teeth whitening, massage, a sauna and skin care and lotion products through memberships or individual sessions.

Originally from Spokane and Chehalis, Wash., respectively, owners Paige Craggett and Adam Kaplan graduated from Eastern Washington University and decided the Highway 41 corridor was the best location.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. weekdays, 9 to 5 Saturdays and 10 to 2 Sundays. Phone (208) 262-9700. Check www.slickrock tanningspa.com.

Barrel Room 6 to reopen June 3

Outdoor seating is planned.

Gates is a Coeur d’Alene native, and the Gates family has owned the winery since 2002. She will have six employees.

This week’s tidbits

•Crosswalks are desperately needed between the Ramsey Elementary parking lot and the athletic field across Kathleen Avenue. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

•Artwalk was a tremendous success again last week. It’s still too bad more of the “non-art” downtown businesses don’t stay open.

•Blondie’s Deli on Northwest Boulevard has closed.

•A new Japanese restaurant is being considered for the Hayden area.
