Dismissed Oregon State football coach Mike Riley told reporters that quarterback Peter Lalich has been dismissed from the team. Lalich was arrested earlier this month at Shasta Lake in Northern California on suspicion of drunken boating. Lalich, a transfer from Virginia, was expected to be a backup this fall.
Hospitalized New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey was taken by ambulance to a hospital after suffering what was later diagnosed as a seizure. Saints safety Darren Sharper said trainers quickly attended to the star tight end, who seemed lucid again after about a minute and was able to walk on his own to an ambulance.
Filed The Oakland Raiders filed a grievance seeking nearly $10 million back from recently released quarterback JaMarcus Russell.The Raiders are seeking $9.55 million from Russell in what was paid as salary advances for the 2010-12 seasons.
Scheduled Six days after Wimbledon, Cowboys Stadium will host a pair of best-of-3 matches, featuring Serena Williams against Maria Sharapova, and Andy Roddick against John Isner. The showcase, to be held July 10, is called the Cowboys Tennis Slam and it is being billed as the inaugural event.
Fined Atlanta Hawks owner Michael Gearon was fined $25,000 for making comments that violated the NBA’s anti-tampering rules. Gearon was fined for comments that appeared in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on May 19, when he said he’d be willing to subject the team to the luxury tax if it could sign Cleveland’s LeBron James to a maximum contract.
Pleaded Former Edmonton Oilers owner Peter Pocklington pleaded guilty to perjury in a Southern California bankruptcy fraud case. Pocklington entered the plea under a deal that allowed him to avoid a possible 10-year prison term for making false statements and oaths in bankruptcy.

With recent reports about sex-abuse cases in swimming, the USOC appointed four-time Olympic cross country skier Nina Kemppel to lead a 10-person task force, which expects to complete the project over the summer.
