Chiefs get back in action tonight
Hockey: The pace has slowed for the Spokane Chiefs after playing seven games in the first 15 days of the Western Hockey League season.
Spokane hasn’t played since Oct. 9, a 2-1 loss at home to the Portland Winterhawks. The break ends tonight at 7 when the Chiefs host the Everett Silvertips in the Arena.
This is the first meeting of the season between Spokane and Everett, with seven more to follow, but only one more clash (Dec. 17) comes before the holiday break.
Spokane was 4-4-1-1 against the Silvertips last season with a 3-2-0-1 record at home.
This week is the last time the Chiefs will play just one game over the course of seven days.
Spokane will host Calgary and Red Deer next week in the last of six straight home games.
Outdoors: Idaho Fish and Game Director Cal Groen is facing a misdemeanor trespassing charge in connection to a hunting trip near Elk City last weekend, according to Idaho County prosecutor Kirk MacGregor.
Fish and Game Department officials confirmed that Groen and his hunting companions had been questioned in a reported trespassing incident.
Groen told the Lewiston Tribune he was helping members of his hunting party butcher elk at the site in question.
Groen says members of the hunting party had previously received permission to hunt on the property, and they were unaware that the status of the land had since changed.
