Bulldogs advance to title game

After a scoreless regulation and two overtimes, Sandpoint (7-6-3) defeated Wood River 3-2 in a shootout at the Idaho State 4A girls soccer semifinals Friday in Coeur d’Alene.

Jacque Cantrell scored the go-ahead goal for the Bulldogs in the shootout, while Hannah Greismer finished with 18 saves to earn the shutout.

The Bulldogs play Bishop Kelly today for the state title at Lake City high school at 2 p.m.

Idaho State 5A: In consolation games, Lake City (8-7-3) and Lewiston (7-4-5) were both eliminated in Idaho Falls. LC fell 1-0 to Timberline, while the Bengals were eliminated by Centennial, losing 5-1.

Idaho State 3A: Jordon Rodriguez scored both goals for Payette in its 2-1 victory over Timberlake (7-3-1) in the semifinal match in Twin Falls. The Tigers will play Snake River today at 2 p.m. Payette will play Sugar-Salem for the state title at 2 p.m.

GSL: Julia Moravec scored a pair of second-half goals to help push visiting Lewis and Clark (15-0-1, 9-0) past University (7-4, 5-4) 4-1 and put the finishing touches on an undefeated season. The Tigers will be the No. 1 seed for the district tournament. … Anna Kessler had a goal in each half and Mead (12-2-1, 7-2) clinched second place in the GSL with a 3-0 victory over Central Valley (10-4, 5-4) at Mead. The No. 2 Panthers will face the No. 3 Bears next Saturday in the district tournament. … Alexia Pruneau and Jessica Porterfield each scored goals and Katie Emery collected seven saves as Mt. Spokane (8-6, 4-5) shut out Gonzaga Prep (10-5, 4-5) 2-0 at Mt. Spokane. GP will play Ferris in the No. 4/No. 5 game Wednesday at Albi Stadium. … Shannon Buddworth scored in the first minute as Ferris (8-4-1, 5-4) edged Shadle Park (8-6, 3-6) 1-0 at Ferris. … Sherece Stout and Ellie Emoto each scored two goals and North Central (3-10, 3-6) beat Rogers (1-10, 0-9) 8-2 at Rogers.

Boys soccer

Idaho State 5A: Jacob Szuch scored the go-ahead goal and Borah held off Lake City (10-4-3) 3-2 in the semifinals in Idaho Falls. The loss dropped the Timberwolves into the third-place match against Mt. View today. Borah will play Centennial today for the championship. … Adam Garman gave Coeur d’Alene (13-4-2) a 3-2 lead and Adam Borshiem added his third goal of the match in the 80th minute to secure a 4-2 win against host Idaho Falls. CdA had seen a 2-0 lead disappear before Borshiem’s goal. The Vikings play Boise in the consolation finals today.

Idaho State 4A: Dennes Vivar scored on an assist from Darin Stibal and Bonneville blanked Moscow (9-9-1) 1-0 in the semifinal match in Coeur d’Alene. The Bears play Middleton for third place in Post Falls today at 2 p.m. Bonneville will play Bishop Kelly for the state title.

Idaho State 3A: Andre Zarate snapped a scoreless tie with a goal in the 45th minute to lift Bonners Ferry (17-3) to a 1-0 win over American Falls and a berth in the championship game against Wendell today.

Volleyball

GSL: Kaely Kight and Maddy Underwood each had nine kills to lead Mead (8-1) to a sweep of Gonzaga Prep (4-5) at Mead.
