Zoo probes death of snow leopard
IDAHO FALLS – Another snow leopard at Idaho Falls’ zoo is dead, prompting officials there to take extra steps to monitor the health of their remaining exotic cats.
The Idaho Falls Post Register reported Wednesday that a 5-pound, 11-week-old cub at the Tautphaus Zoo was found dead early Saturday when keepers arrived for the animal’s morning feeding.
Two of the cub’s grandparents had to be euthanized recently after being diagnosed with cancer.
Interim Zoo Superintendent Beth Rich says the cub may have had pneumonia.
