Acknowledged Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth isn’t going anywhere, at least not for now. Addressing the latest trade reports concerning the troublesome defensive tackle, coach Mike Shanahan on Wednesday said Haynesworth will be a member of the Washington Redskins when they open the NFL season Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

Convicted Former University of Michigan standout Rumeal Robinson, who led the Spartans to the NCAA men’s basketball championship in 1989 and later played in the NBA, was convicted in federal court in Des Moines, Iowa, of borrowing more than $700,000 for a sham business deal and then spending the money on a condominium, expensive furniture and cars. He faces up to 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine on each of 11 counts. A date for sentencing hasn’t been set.

Signed The Jacksonville Jaguars signed guard Uche Nwaneri to a five-year extension reportedly worth $24 million, making him one of the long-term building blocks for the offense. The Jaguars moved Nwaneri to right guard this season to bolster the running game.

• The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent swingman Rodney Carney, 26, to a contract. Carney played in 68 games for Philadelphia last season. He averaged 4.7 points and 2.0 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per game.

Suspended University of Georgia star receiver A.J. Green was suspended by the NCAA for four games for selling a jersey for $1,000 to someone who qualifies as an agent. Green, a junior, sold his jersey from last season’s Independence Bowl. The school said Green has repaid the $1,000 to a charity.

Retiring Longtime U.S. women’s national team goalkeeper Briana Scurry is retiring from soccer. Scurry, 39, spent this season on the roster of the Washington Freedom of Women’s Professional Soccer, but she played in only one game because of lingering effects from a concussion.
