In brief: ‘Beauty Bash’ helps area women

RIVERSIDE – Project Beauty Share will hold the second annual “Beauty Bash” on Oct. 21 at The Make-Up Studio, 216 N. Bernard St.

The event will include wine, food, music, a gift basket raffle and a beauty drive. Attendees are requested to bring new and gently-used beauty, cosmetic and toiletry products for donation.

Tickets for the basket raffle will be on sale at The Make-Up Studio beginning Oct. 18 and will be $2 each.

Project Beauty Share is a year-round initiative to collect beauty products and distribute them through local agencies to women who cannot afford the items.

Key Leader funds available

Application deadline is Saturday for students interested in the Kiwanis Clubs of Spokane County Key Leader conference, to be held at the Chewelah Peaks Learning Center Oct. 15 through 17.

Students will work in large- and small-group activities. The camp is staffed with trained adult volunteers, along with a trained facilitator.

Cost for the Key Leader conference is $200. Scholarships will be awarded to pay for camp expenses, although students and parents are asked to pay 30 percent of the cost.

To apply, interested persons must be high school students ages 14 to 18.
