Northport Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease Study – As part of a research study to see if there is an increased frequency of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease in Northport, Wash., Drs. Sharyle Fowler and Joshua Korzenik will be at Northport Community Center on Sunday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., to answer questions and hand out surveys. Coffee and snacks will be available. All past and present residents are encouraged to participate, regardless of whether they have ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease. Participation is voluntary and responses are confidential. Introduction to Herbal Medicine Making Workshop Series – Hands-on, beginner level class provides practical skills in herbal medicine making for a variety of applications. Introduction to Herbalism: Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Class provides an introduction to the three-part series that will be taught over the spring and summer. Cost is $25. Spring Herbal Medicine Class: Workshop will cover nettles, plantain and other spring herbs; seeds and starts to plant in your herb garden; and the creation of herbal teas, infusions and oils. May 14, 10 a.m. Bring a lunch. Cost is $25. Summer Herbal Medicine Class: July 9, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Class covers St. John’s Wort and other herbs in season. Fall Herbal Medicine Class: Aug. 20, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Class covers medicinal berries and remedies to carry us through winter colds and flu, including tinctures, cordials, lotions, and healing soups. Camp Fun in The Sun – July 24-30. A camp for children living with diabetes. Nationally recognized by the American Camping Association. Campers have a chance to spend time with other children who also have diabetes while having fun learning to live with diabetes and balance their daily activities. Scholarships are available.
