Injured A minor injury to his left knee and Achilles tendon will keep Tiger Woods out of the Wells Fargo Championship next week, raising more questions that his health might be the biggest obstacle in his chase of Jack Nicklaus’ record. Woods said on his website that he hurt himself hitting a shot during the third round of the Masters.

Honored Los Angeles Lakers star Ron Artest has been selected for the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award presented annually by the Professional Basketball Writers Association. Artest was picked for his attempts to promote mental health awareness.

Arrested Former Major League outfielder Carl Everett was in a Tampa, Fla., jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after putting a handgun to his wife’s head, according to police. Everett, 39, played in the majors for 14 seasons, including a stint with the Seattle Mariners.

Returned Louisville announced that Richard Pitino is back coaching alongside his father Rick at Louisville. Former New Mexico assistant Wyking Jones has also joined the Cardinals’ revamped coaching staff. Pitino was an assistant at Louisville from 2007-09 before joining Billy Donovan’s staff at Florida.

Charged Washington Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth was charged with misdemeanor sexual abuse for allegedly fondling the breast of his server in a hotel restaurant in Washington. If convicted, the 29-year-old two-time All-Pro faces up to six months in jail.

Died Popular Miami Dolphins radio announcer Jim Mandich, who won two Super Bowl rings with the team, died Tuesday at age 62. He was diagnosed with bile-duct cancer in early 2010. Mandich was a tight end for the Dolphins when they achieved the NFL’s only perfect season in 1972.

Dismissed Florida coach Will Muschamp sent a strong message to his team by dismissing star cornerback Janoris Jenkins. Jenkins was kicked off the team after his third arrest in less than two years, his second in the past four months.
