Deer Park crash injures eight

Eight persons were injured on Sunday night in a two-vehicle collision at Deer Park, the Washington State Patrol said. One of two drivers involved failed to yield at a stop sign at Crawford Avenue and U.S. Highway 395. That driver was Keith J. Embler, 53, of Deer Park, who was driving a 1983 Chevrolet van and was headed west when the accident occurred just after 10 p.m. He was taken to Providence Holy Family Hospital along with his passenger, Linda J. Embler, 58, of Deer Park. Both were reported in satisfactory condition today. Keith Embler was facing a charge of vehicular assault and is suspected of driving under the influence, troopers said. Embler’s van collided with a 2003 Chevrolet van driven by Angelito T. Santos, 46, of Spokane. He was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center for treatment and was in satisfactory condition today. Santos was headed south on U.S. 395. Also injured in the collision was Alyssa M. Santos, 41, who was in critical condition at Sacred Heart today. Treated for injuries and released from Sacred Heart were Isabella Santos, 16, Zachary Santos, 14, Annalia Santos, 9, and Nicasio Santos, 6. Troopers said the accident is being investigated as a vehicular assault with impaired driving as a cause.
