From Staff Reports

Spokane Public Schools board of directors swore in its newest member on Wednesday and elected officers for the upcoming year.

Deana Brower replaces Garret Daggett, who stepped down after 6  1/2 years. Brower was elected in November, beating candidate Sally Fullmer with 51.4 percent of the vote.

Bob Douthitt will take over as president. He takes over for Sue Chapin, who presided as president for two years, a district spokeswoman said. Jeff Bierman will continue as vice president for a second year.

The officers were announced Wednesday during a regular board meeting.

Police post stolen property

After a rash of burglaries, the Coeur d’Alene Police Department is using Facebook to reconnect victims with their belongings.

Those who believe they have been the victim of theft in the area can visit www.facebook.com/CoeurdAlenePD to view photos of recently recovered property and call the Detective Division at (208) 769-2291 with a police report number to claim property. If a police report was not filed, the process will take longer.

Recently, Moses Lake police arrested several people in possession of a moving van full of stolen property. Investigators believe most of the property came from Kootenai County.
