Leads sought in elk poaching case

Idaho Department of Fish and Game officials are seeking leads in the case of a bull elk poached several miles east of Silverwood Theme Park. The elk was killed sometime between 9:30 pm on Sunday and 6:30 am today in a private field near the intersection of Bunco and Nunn roads. The culprits removed the head and much of the meat from the carcass, officials said. Elk herds are more visible this time of year, moving into open fields now that the general rifle season has closed, said Mark Rhodes, Fish and Games’s district conservation officer Anyone with information can contact either the Citizens Against Poaching Hotline at (800) 632-5999 or Fish and Game at (208) 769-1414.
