Leach hiring well worth money

In response to all the letters in The Spokesman-Review (Dec. 11) against the new football coach and Bill Moos, all I can say is shame on you.

I am a retired professor at WSU and a season-ticket holder in all major sports, and I am elated that we have Moos as our athletic director and a new football coach in Mike Leach.

I have watched WSU football since 1965 and I cannot remember many times when I had to endure such terrible football as the past four years, especially the first two under Paul Wulff.

Moos built two successful athletic programs at Montana and Oregon. Both university sports programs are first class. You cannot say that about WSU, yet I am positive you will all change your minds in a few years, and maybe after this next fall because I believe we now have one of the best athletic directors and football coaches in the country. To get them you have to pay big dollars, but I believe we will have a team that will compete beyond the Big Sky Conference level.

As for me, and several though other fans who renewed their season tickets, we are looking forward to some great football and the future of Cougars athletics.
