Christmas services are many

The Christmas season is here, and area churches are holding special services to mark the occasion.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church, 5810 S. Meadowlane Road, will offer family Christmas Eve worship at 6 p.m. today, as well as a candlelight worship service at 11 p.m.

On Christmas there will be a 10 a.m. festival worship service.

• St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 5720 S. Perry St., will present Christmas Eve services today with a family Eucharist and Christmas pageant at 5 p.m. and a 10:30 p.m. Festive Choral Holy Eucharist service.

The Christmas celebration will be at 10:15 a.m. Sunday with Christmas lessons and carols with Holy Eucharist.

• St. David’s Episcopal Church, 7315 N. Wall St., will offer Christmas Eve services at 5 p.m. today with a Christmas pageant and Eucharist and a 10 p.m. Holy Eucharist service, which will include a prelude at 9:45 p.m.

The Christmas service will be at 10 a.m. Sunday with Eucharist and carols.

• Mission Community Presbyterian Church, 2103 E. Mission Ave., will present a Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. today.

• Lincoln Heights Community Church, 3527 E. 29th Ave., will present a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 5 p.m. today.

The church’s Christmas worship service will be at 11 a.m. Sunday.

• St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 316 E. 24th Ave., will present Christmas Eve candlelight services at 4, 6 and 11 p.m. today.

The 4 p.m. service will be a family candlelight worship with special children’s time. The later services will include carols, Communion and candlelight; the Chancel Choir will provide special music for the 11 p.m. service.

• Latah Valley Presbyterian Church, 202 E. Meadowlane Road, will present a Christmas Eve service of candles and carols at 7 p.m. today.

• The Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St., will present three Christmas Eve services today.

At 6 p.m. there will be a contemporary family service, followed by a traditional service at 8 p.m. At 10 p.m. there will be a contemplative service.

• Fowler United Methodist Church, 3928 N. Howard St., will offer a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 5 p.m. today. Special music will be performed by the Men’s Ensemble and the Fowler Kids will assist with worship.

On Sunday, there will be a special Christmas worship service at 10:30 a.m. Special music will be provided, and the Fowler Kids will perform on marimbas and drums.

• Mead United Methodist Church, 12611 N. Wilson Road, will present a Christmas Eve candlelight service of lessons and carols today at 11 p.m. The service will include choir and congregational carol singing, scripture, a Christmas story and music.

The Christmas service will be family-oriented and will be at 10 a.m. Sunday.

• Covenant United Methodist Church, 15515 N. Gleneden Drive, will offer a family service, “Bedtime Christmas,” a play of Christmas stories at 5 p.m. today. There will also be a candlelight service with music at 8 p.m. and a candlelight and Communion service at 11 p.m.

The church will celebrate Christmas with a 5 p.m. Sunday service with songs, stories and fellowship.
