Whits retain No. 2 rank
The top three teams in the D3hoops.com men’s basketball poll remain the same for a second straight week, but the second-ranked Whitworth Pirates whittled a few points off No. 1 Wooster’s lead.
Whitworth again picked up three first-place votes and compiled 589 points to 20 first-place votes and 620 points for the Ohio schoo. Both are 19-0. A week ago, Wooster had 21 first-place votes and led 621-585.
Lewis & Clark dropped out of the top 25 after being ranked 24th.
Whitworth plays at Puget Sound on Friday and at Pacific Lutheran Saturday.

Nonleague
Lakeside (ID) 67, Logos 59: Nate Weaselhead and Joseph Chapman scored 18 points apiece as the Knights (11-4) held off the visitors from Moscow. Jackson Spencer made 3 of 4 3s in the fourth quarter for Logos and finished with 18 points.
Odessa-Harrington 77, Inchelium 33: The Titans had 12 players score, led by Justin Hunt’s 16 points, in beating the visiting Hornets (5-14).
Girls basketball
North Star
Wallace 53, Mullan 34: Emily Vester had 14 points, three assists and three steals and Courtney Jennings had four assists, three steals and eight points as the Miners (9-7, 6-1 NSL) beat the visiting Tigers (3-9, 1-5).
Nonleague
Odessa-Harrington 60, Inchelium 37: Lacey Hirst had 17 points and Justyne Talkington 16 points and seven steals to lead the Titans (10-9) over the visiting Hornets (2-14). Jade Sargent scored 26 for Inchelium, hitting 3 of 3 3 pointers in the third quarter when she scored 13 of the Hornets’ 14 points.
St. Maries 43, Coeur d’Alene JV 39 (OT): Tia Asbury, who scored 17 points, and Dusti Huddleston hit three free throws each in OT for the Lumberjacks (6-11), who rallied from 10 down at halftime.
