Pac-10 basketball: Ducks defeat Beavers

In Eugene, Ore., Jay-R Strowbridge scored a career-high 26 points and streaking Oregon hit a season-best 13 3-pointers to defeat Oregon State 82-63 Saturday and continue its ascent up the Pac-10 Conference standings.

Joevan Catron and E.J. Singler added 13 points apiece for Oregon (14-12, 7-7 Pac-10), which opened the season 0-4 in conference play. The Ducks have won seven of their last 10 games and are now in fourth place, behind No. 12 Arizona, UCLA and Washington.

Lathan Wallace had 17 points off the bench for the Beavers (9-16, 4-10), who have lost four straight games.

Strowbridge, who hit a career-high six 3-pointers on nine attempts, sparked a second-half run that put the game out of reach.

USC 69, Stanford 53: At Stanford, Calif., Nikola Vucevic scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and Alex Stepheson added 15 points, leading Southern California to a victory over Stanford.

Donte Smith had 13 points, while Maurice Jones came off the bench for the second time this season and scored 10 for the Trojans (15-12, 7-7 Pac-10), who beat Stanford at Maples Pavilion for the first time since Feb. 21, 2002, and swept their regular-season series.

Josh Owens scored a team-high 13 points, while Jeremy Green and Josh Huestis each scored 11 for Stanford (13-13, 6-9). Dwight Powell had nine rebounds.
