One dead in Stevens County car crash
A Spokane man died in a one-car accident early Saturday that shut down Highway 395 three miles north of Chewelah for hours.
Terry R. Patterson, 39, was northbound in a Ford Expedition when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a driveway abutment and rolled, according to the Washington State Patrol. Troopers responded to the crash about 12:34 a.m.
Patterson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and landed on the southbound shoulder, authorities said. He was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators are still determining the cause of the crash.
