Your week

YOUR HEALTH

Using a scale is simple, right – just step on and look at the numbers.

Not so fast. For more accurate readings, follow these tips from Weight Watchers North America:

• Weigh yourself weekly. Weight can fluctuate two or three pounds from day to day based on fluid changes.

• Stick to one time of day. Again, weight can vary by two or more pounds over the course of a day.

• Position your scale correctly, on a hard, level surface, not carpeting.

• Wear the same type of clothes at each weigh-in so your outfit won’t be a factor.

• Don’t get too hung up. Numbers on a scale are only one measure of healthy weight loss; also consider body fat percentage, muscle tone and loss of inches from your body.

YOUR HOME

Garbage Bin Wash uses enzymes to get rid of trash-can odors for up to a month.

The product, from Biowish Technologies, eliminates the need to scrub the can clean. Instead, you dissolve a tablet in water and use it to rinse your trash can, wastebasket or recycling bin. And it doesn’t leave a flowery cover-up scent to attract insects or rodents.

Look for it at selected Ace Hardware stores, or order it for $8.05 plus shipping at Amazon.com.

YOUR FOOD

For something slightly exotic from the barbecue, Korean Grilled Beef, in a flavorful marinade, pairs well with rice cooked with spinach and bean sprouts. For the recipe, see page C7.
